December 30, 2000

Got scores back from the Emily contest. Both judges scored Red Shoes 136 out of a possible 145. They both wrote very nice and encouraging comments on the entry and suggested submitting to Harlequin Temptation/ Blaze

October 17, 2000

Received a form rejection letter from Harlequin, declining Destiny's Dream. It didn't hurt that bad because after meeting with Ms. Chin, I knew they wouldn't buy it. And since I won the Blaze contest, who cares?

October 1, 2000

Mailed a partial submission [the first four chapters and synopsis of Red Shoes] to Brenda Chin's attention. I fantasize that she'll call me in the next few weeks and tell me how much she loves it. Dream on, right?

September 29, 2000

WooHoo! Brenda Chin called today to tell me Red Shoes placed second in the Blaze contest! She asked if any of the book was written and I told her I was in the process of revising it, but could send her the first four chapters. Here's hoping

Mailed two love scenes from Red Shoes to the Harlequin Blaze Contest. I even wrote a 'cover blurb' for the story. I'm sure a lot of people entered because HQ was really talking up the contest and the new line at the conference. I probably don't stand a chance but I entered anyway.

July 30, 2000

Talking with several authors over drinks gave me an idea. Kelsey Roberts told a story about finding a pair of shoes in her hotel room the the National in Chicago. Dani Sinclair checked into the wrong room at this conference- she didn't even notice all of the men's clothes and toiletries until security took her back upstairs! I'm going to call the new wip, Red Shoes and a Diary- a take off of the HBO series.

July 29, 2000

Had my editor appointment with Brenda Chin at the RWA National conference. Won't say she hated Destiny, but she sure didn't love it. Despite that, she asked me to send her a proposal. This is a good thing, right?

July 12, 2000

Mailed query [first chapter and synopsis] of Destiny to Ms. Brenda Chin at Harlequin Temptation and mentioned that we have an editor appointment at the RWA National conference later this month. Will she have time to read it before she sees me?

February 2000

Decided to try my hand at category romance. Looking over the keeper shelf, noticed that most of my category books are Harlequin Temptation so I'll target that line.

January 2000

Destiny's Dream was published as an e-book. Hooray! Does this mean I'm a published author since I did it myself??

May 1999

In the last year I wrote five chapters on Destiny's Dream, then hit a wall. This is the worst case of writer's block I've ever had. Finally took a class on plotting and managed to write an outline for the rest of the book. Hopefully, things will go much smoother now.

May 1998

Began with an idea and scribbled a few pages of the scene I'd imagined on the train to work. The story will be set on a cruise ship since I loved the cruise we took last fall. I've even thought of a name- Destiny's Dream. It will be both the title and the name of the ship
