I called the Harlequin offices today, checking to make sure my
revised manuscript arrived okay. [I was hoping to get The Call for
Christmas, but ... <g>]. Anyway, Brenda Chin called me back
to say it arrived and she'll get to it soon.

Another year is almost over. Maybe it's a little early for
resolutions, but I'm going to throw my hat over the wall anyway. A
friend was talking yesterday about 'protecting the writing' and I
realized that I don't do that. How can I ask people to take my
writing seriously if I don't treat it that way myself?

Well, today was a big day for me. I mailed both my Golden Heart
entry and my revised manuscript for RED SHOES. Not that I don't
trust the post office, but I would have preferred to send them out
hand delivered by bonded courier LOL. Now, the waiting begins
again and I have to decide which project to work on next.

November 22, 2001
I DID IT! This Thanksgiving Day, I'm thankful to have
finished the requested revisions on RED SHOES. I feel a real sense
of accomplishment for having met this goal on time. But, at that
the same time, I feel nervous and a little sad. It was really hard
to write the words 'The End'. It's going to be even harder to send
my baby back out to possibly face more revisions or even
rejection. And then there's the waiting...

Will the revision madness never end?!? I'm beginning to
wonder what exactly Brenda liked about RED SHOES since
she wants so much changed. This is one of the hardest
things I've ever done. It would probably be easier if it
was someone else's work- then I wouldn't be emotionally
attached to each and every scene. It looks like I'm
going to lose a lot and four to five weeks isn't much
time to rewrite and create new material... Wish me luck!
I need it.

I got my revision letter from Harlequin today. It's FOUR pages
long, SINGLE spaced type. I don't even want to talk about this
now, though I will quote Ms. Chin, "I know I'm asking for a
lot" but "I really enjoyed reading it and feel that it
should work very well for our new Blaze line."

WOOHOO!! Brenda Chin called today to say she really liked RED
SHOES! She wants some changes, however she thinks there is plenty
of story for the Blaze line. Brenda is sending a revision
letter next week, but I'm going to start going over the manuscript
now... Okay, color me impatient to get a contract in my hot little
hands <G>

July 23,

Well, the RWA conference is over and I haven't heard anything
about my submission. I guess no news is good news, but...
I admit I haven't been writing. Partly because I went back
to school to become a travel agent. Mostly because I feel
stuck. Until I get some kind of guidance from Harlequin, I'm
not sure how to continue. Maybe that's just an excuse...

July 13, 2001
I hate waiting. Brenda Chin mentioned getting Red
Shoes back to me in
mid-July and here it is mid-July and my mailbox is empty and I
know she's very busy and RWA NAtional is next week and I don't
care-- I want the phone to ring!!

June 20,
2001
Brenda Chin called this morning to congratulate me on both the
round robin and the TARA. She hasn't read my submission yet
and apologized again for taking so long. She did, however,
tell me that the reviewer gave Red
Shoes a positive
read! She hoped to get my manuscript back to me by mid-July.
The waiting continues, but now on a more hopeful note!

Woohoo! Red
Shoes
made the final round of the TARA First Impressions Contest!
Now my entry will go on to the final round editor... Brenda Chin
<G>. Maybe she'll be impressed enough to read the
whole manuscript now.
