Decision
Trees
Decision Trees combine Free Association with Cause & Effect,
allowing you to choose between options by projecting the likely outcomes.
This tool works best during the plotting phase.

Group creativity: This
tool works best on a dry erase or chalk board so that everyone can see
the process. Start with the basic premise or main concept, then ask
'What if?' At first just write down the suggestions and ideas. When the
tree has grown as tall as it can, begin filling in the branches with the
possible consequences of each idea and the effect of each suggestion.
Individual Alternate: On
your own, this tool might take the form of a mind map, which is much
less structured than the tree. Write the central idea in the middle of a
piece of paper, then have some fun. From that main premise, use colored
markers to draw lines, shapes, pictures or symbols labeled with key
concepts as you free associate and generate ideas.
